PROJECT  RELATIONSHIPS

Relationships is the title of the current project by singer, author, dancer and choreographer from São Paulo, Regina Ribeiro.

Projeto Relationships presents the Afro Soul style in a contemporary musical and choreographic show.

The repertoire consists of the majority of authentic and original authorial music that resulted from the extensive research work carried out by Regina Ribeiro and her teams of musicians, composers, arrangers, dancers, choreographers, historians and anthropologists in recent years.

The musical concept of Projeto Relationships focuses on ijexá rhythm and Soul Music. Ijexá is an African rhythm of Yoruba origin. Quiet rhythm, ijexá is related to water, life, fluidity, depth and spirituality.

In the choreographic creation of the Relationships Project, the traditional and the contemporary meet harmoniously. Regina Ribeiro's contemporary black dance materializes the bridges between Brazil, Africa and the United States.

The show Relationships portrays the full art of Regina Ribeiro, who completes 37 years of a career that began in São Paulo, passing through Salvador, Boston and New York, Paris, Bern, Tokyo, Abidjan and Kessabli (Ivory Coast), Accra ( Ghana), Yaounde and Doualá (Cameroon).

With the support of the Swiss and Cameroonian government, in addition to Fnac, Projeto Relationships has already been successfully presented at the Fribourg Jazz Festival, the Afro Pfingster Festival in Switzerland, the Healing Concert Festival in Yaoundé, Cameroon and at Sesc in São Paulo, among others.

The main objective of this phase of the Relationships Project is to share  with the public the depth, richness and complexity of the encounter between traditional and contemporary African cultures with Brazilian and American Afro-contemporary cultures that carry the richness of African ancestral heritage in its essence.

On the stage:

Regina Ribeiro: concept, composition, vocals, choreography and dance; Fabiano de Castro: piano, keyboards and musical direction; Jorge Marciano: percussion; Marcelo da Rocha: bass; Miguel de Assis: drums, percussion and vocals; Felipe Ávila: guitar and acoustic guitar; Louis Handberg: dance.
